Navigating Uncertainty: Public Health Leaders Unite to Advance a Resilient Future in New Hampshire

In a time of unprecedented challenges for public health—from workforce shortages to drastic cuts—the New Hampshire Public Health Association (NHPHA) is bringing together the state’s public health leaders for reflection, strategy, and connection.

The New Hampshire Public Health Association 2025 Annual Meeting is taking place on Thursday, April 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord. This year’s event, themed “Navigating Uncertainty: Building Resilience in Public Health in New Hampshire,” will focus on the critical role of collaboration in advancing health policy. The panel discussion, a centerpiece of the evening, bring together some of the state’s most respected voices in public health and policy. Speakers include Kate Frey, Vice President of Advocacy at New Futures; Jo Porter, Chief Strategy Officer at the Center for Justice & Equity; and Sally Kraft, MD, MPH, and Chelsey Canavan, PhD, of the Dartmouth Center for Advancing Rural Health Equity.

These leaders will explore how partnerships across sectors are helping communities adapt to growing health challenges, reduce disparities, and drive long-term change in systems of care.

“Public health in New Hampshire is facing unprecedented challenges—from workforce shortages and rising healthcare costs to political uncertainty,” said Tory Jennison, NHPHA Executive Director. “This event will  highlight solutions that remind us that connection inspires powerful action.

The event will begin with a student poster showcase highlighting research and innovation from emerging public health professionals across New Hampshire. Attendees will enjoy refreshments and time to network before the program begins. At 6:10 PM, the moderated panel discussion and Q&A will explore  cross-sector collaboration in improving public health outcomes.

The event will also feature an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding student work. New this year is a closing “Community Conversation” designed to spark discussion about what’s working, what’s not, and how New Hampshire’s public health community can support one another during uncertain times.

The meeting is open to public health professionals, students, advocates, and anyone interested in the future of public health in New Hampshire. Advance registration is required. For more details and to register, visit https://www.nhpha.org/2025-annual-meeting.
